About Brunswick County’s Public Housing Agency
The Brunswick County Public Housing Agency (BCPHA) administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, which allows low-income families the opportunity to rent decent, safe, and sanitary housing units that are privately owned and that meet program requirements.
The amount of the rental assistance paid depends on several factors, including household income, voucher size, utilities the family is responsible for paying, and the amount of the contract rent. Subsidy payments are made by the housing agency directly to the owner on behalf of the family.
The HCV program was created by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and is funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
