NOTICE OF DISCHARGE OF UNTREATED WASTEWATER
Brunswick County Public Utilities had a discharge of partially treated wastewater from a sanitary sewer manhole located at the West Brunswick Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant at 235 Grey Water Road Supply, NC, on November 12, 2020. The sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) was discovered at approximately 11:30 p.m. during rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Eta. The sanitary sewer overflow lasted approximately 1.5 hours during the height of the rainfall event. It is believed 6,000 to 7,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater was discharged from a stormwater pond into a tributary of the Lockwood Folly River. This notice is required by NC General Statutes Article 21 Chapter 143.215.1C(b)(1).
No action is required by the public at this time. Additional information will be provided if action is necessary.
