Note: This advisory has been rescinded.
The water consumers of Brunswick County Public Utilities located along Malmo Loop Road, Maco Road (Malmo Loop Road to Andrew Jackson Hwy.), Old Maco Road, Buck Hideaway, Farmer’s Chaple Road, Aycock Court, Bacon’s Way, Learning Lane, and all customers within the City of Sandy Creek, experienced a period of low water pressure the afternoon of August 27. The low pressure was caused by a contractor closing a main water line valve by mistake. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
Therefore, Brunswick County Public Utilities and the Division of Water Resources advises that consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.
