Brunswick County Now Under Stage 1 – Water Conservation Alert
Reminder to Use Water Wisely
To ensure adequate water is available for essential needs, Brunswick County Public Utilities would like to remind customers to Use Water Wisely.
Brunswick County would like to remind all to be diligent and use water wisely now and through the Memorial Day and Independence Day (July 4) holidays. Trends show water demands are at their highest on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. Densely developed communities experience localized low pressures due to everyone’s irrigation system running at the same time.
Extremely high demands in such a short period of time drains water tanks and reservoirs putting the system in a state of recovery to replenish and refill those tanks. This results in lower-than-average pressure throughout the system for a good portion of the day.
By adhering to the following schedule, we hope to avoid those sudden heavy demands and provide better service and higher pressures to the customers.
The following irrigation schedule is recommended:
- Odd address numbers: Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday
- Even address numbers: Wednesday/Friday/Sunday
- No irrigation on Mondays
Defer all non-essential water use to outside the peak demand hours of 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., preferably after nightfall. Do not overwater your yard. Install rain shut-off devices on automatic irrigation systems.
Residents who have questions should contact their water service provider directly or contact Brunswick County Public Utilities at 910.253.2657 or email@example.com
