Brunswick County installs parking signs for veterans at government center in Bolivia
MEDIA RELEASE
BOLIVIA, N.C. – Over the last month, Brunswick County has installed a total of 30 reserved parking signs for veteran customers at the government center in Bolivia in honor of their service to our county and country.
The project was initiated by Brunswick County’s Veterans Services department in May 2022. Brunswick County’s Operation Services department took on and funded the project during Fiscal Year 2022-2023. Sign installation began August 2022 and was completed on Sept. 8, 2022.
“It is an honor to work with our Brunswick veterans,” Senior Veterans Service Officer Anita Hartsell said. “This act of service is one way we are able to give back and recognize those who have served our country.”
North Carolina is the most military friendly state in the nation. North Carolina has the third largest military presence in the country and is home to more than 720,000 veterans. Over 14,493 veterans in North Carolina call Brunswick County home.
Veterans are people who have served, but are not currently serving, in the active military, naval, or air service, and who were not dishonorably discharged or released from their duties. People who have served as members of the National Guard or in the Reserves qualify as veterans if they were called to federal active duty, or if they were disabled from a disease or injury (whether incurred or aggravated) in the line of duty or while in training. For the complete definition, review the ACS Subject Definitions document or the VA’s Determining Veteran Status document.
Unless you are a veteran, we ask all employees, residents, and visitors to please avoid parking in these designated spots.
