Brunswick County reminds customers about office closures, trash/recycling schedules during the holidays

BOLIVIA, N.C. – In observance of the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, Brunswick County government offices and county libraries will close to the public Thursday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 31.

Hours of operation for Brunswick County Solid Waste and Recycling services may be adjusted due to the holidays. See the information below for details on these services.

Trash/Recycling Cart Curbside Collection

Because both Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) fall on Saturdays, there are no anticipated impacts to customers’ trash and recycling cart curbside collection schedules over the next two weeks. Continue to place your carts at the curb on your regular collection day by 6 a.m. for regular service.

Brunswick County Landfill (172 Landfill Road NE, Bolivia)

  • Closed Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25. Reopens Monday, Dec. 27.
  • Closed Saturday, Jan. 1. Reopens Monday, Jan. 3.

Convenience Centers (Various Locations)

  • Closed Saturday, Dec. 25. Reopens Monday, Dec. 27.
  • Closed Saturday, Jan. 1. Reopens Monday, Jan. 3.

Live Christmas Tree Recycling

The Brunswick County Landfill will accept live Christmas trees from county residents and property owners for recycling at no charge during the month of January. The convenience centers will also accept live Christmas trees for recycling during this month for $5 each.

Remember to remove all decorations and lights from the tree before bringing them to the landfill or a convenience center. Christmas string lights and cords are accepted all year at the landfill and convenience centers at no charge through the electronics recycling program.
