Brunswick County office closures and trash and recycling reminders ahead of Christmas and New Year’s

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County government offices and libraries will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, for Christmas and Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, in observance of New Year’s Day.
Here are a few reminders about some of your essential services during the holiday season.
Trash/Recycling Cart Curbside Collection
Because Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays this holiday season, curbside trash and recycling collections will continue on their normal schedules. Place carts at the curb by 6 a.m. to ensure pick up.

Brunswick County Landfill (172 Landfill Road NE, Bolivia)
- Closed Saturday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 26. Reopens on regular schedule Tuesday, Dec. 27.
- Open on regular schedule Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.
Convenience Centers (Various Locations)
- Closed Saturday, Dec. 24. Reopen on regular schedules Monday, Dec. 26.
- Open on regular schedule Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.
Live Christmas Tree Recycling
Brunswick County Landfill
Live Christmas trees are accepted at the Brunswick County Landfill in Bolivia at no charge from Jan. 2– Jan. 31, 2023. After Jan. 31, normal tipping fees apply. All ornaments, lights and decorations must be removed.
Brunswick County Convenience Centers
Live Christmas trees are accepted for $5 per tree at the convenience centers from Jan. 2– Jan. 31, 2023. All ornaments, lights and decorations must be removed.
Note: Artificial trees are NOT recyclable and will need to be disposed of as household trash. Normal tipping fees will apply.
