Vector-borne diseases

Vector-borne diseases are illnesses caused by parasites, viruses, or bacteria that are transmitted to humans by vectors such as mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks. In North Carolina, the most common vector-borne diseases are spread primarily by ticks and mosquitoes. It is important for Brunswick County communities to take preventive measures to reduce mosquito breeding habitats and protect themselves from bites.
