Child Care, Schools, Summer Camps & Lead Poisoning Prevention

Environmental Health Staff work to help ensure a healthy and safe environment for children in Brunswick County through plan review, inspections and investigations in the following programs:

  1. Child Care centers are licensed by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE).

  2. The N.C. Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) coordinates clinical and environmental services aimed at eliminating childhood lead poisoning.

  3. Environmental Health Specialists conduct annual sanitation inspections of school buildings to determine compliance with the N.C. Rules Governing the Sanitation of Public, Private and Religious Schools.

  4. Summer Camps include establishments which provide food or lodging accommodations for groups of children or adults engaged in organized recreational or educational programs.
