Brunswick County has been accepted into the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Community Rating System (CRS) program. The program is available to communities that have been found to effectively administer a locally adopted Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance and provide exceptional educational resources to the community. Brunswick County completed a FEMA Community Assistance Visit, which is a CRS requirement, and demonstrated the County is effectively administering its Floodplain Management Program to a higher standard. The County has been given a CRS classification rating of 8, which determines the percentage discount property owners will realize for flood insurance premiums with the National Flood Insurance Program policies. With a CRS Classification Rating of 8, property owners may realize up to a 10% discount on their flood insurance premiums.
