Fire Prevention Inspections
The Brunswick County Code Administration Fire Marshal's staff provides periodic fire inspections on all structures except one and two-family dwellings. A member of our team is assigned jurisdictional areas of responsibility to their level of certification. Currently, our department conducts fire prevention inspections in all unincorporated areas of Brunswick County. In addition, to the municipal areas of Belville, Bolivia, Carolina Shores, Caswell Beach, Navassa, Northwest, Sandy Creek, Shallotte, St. James, and Varnamtown.
In conjunction with periodic fire prevention inspections, our department also issues mandatory construction and operational permits set forth in the North Carolina State Building Code: Fire Prevention Code. Examples include but not limited to public firework display permits, blasting permits, tent permits, hood fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, and fire sprinkler systems construction permits.
Our team works closely with owners, developers, builders, contractors, and other State, County, and Municipal government partners in the multi-family and commercial development process. This includes code compliance fire plan reviews of construction plans, construction fire inspections of buildings and fire systems, and issuance of occupant capacity placards, operational permits, and certificates of occupancies for buildings or uses.
