Based on the findings of the laboratory analysis of water samples collected on 4/10/2024, Brunswick County Public Utilities water users located at 4688 to 4742 as well as 4810 Long Beach Road and all addresses on Coastal Drive SE in Southport are hereby notified that it is no longer necessary to boil water or use bottled water for human consumption. The system has resumed normal operation. Affected customers will be notified by ReadyBrunswick.

Due to contractor work, the water consumers of Brunswick County Public Utilities located at 4688 to 4742 as well as 4810 Long Beach Road and all addresses on Coastal Drive SE in Southport will be out of service at approximately 5:30 pm on 4/9/2024 to 1:30 am on 4/10/2024. Consumers will need to store water in containers during this outage, as water service will be temporarily turned off during this time.
Once water has been restored, Brunswick County Public Utilities and the NC Division of Water Resources advise consumers to boil all water or use bottled water for human consumption until further notice. Consumption includes drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
Approximately forty-four (44) residential and twelve (12) commercial connections will be affected. Customers will be notified via ReadyBrunswick. Brunswick County will provide additional information when this advisory is lifted.
