MEDIA RELEASE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Join Brunswick County Library for a summer of reading and fun with the Adventure Begins at Your Library Summer Reading Program. This free, eight-week program will begin June 1 and continue through July 31, 2024, at all five library branch locations.

The program is split into three different age groups: preschool (ages 0 to 5), children (kindergarten to fifth grade), and teens (sixth grade to 12th grade). Each group will have their own reading challenges and events.

Children will enjoy themed storytimes, programs, and live animal encounters, while teens can participate in escape rooms, crafts, workshops, and more. A complete list of events for all five library branches is online on the Library’s events calendar and at brunswickcountync.gov/library.

The 2024 Summer Reading Program is designed for participants to read books, attend events, and complete missions to win prizes. Participants can track their progress by picking up a reading log from any of the library branch locations or by signing up for READsquared—Brunswick County Library’s free, online reading challenge platform and app.

“The summer reading program is a fantastic way to keep children and teens engaged in learning while school is out,” Youth Services Librarian Hunter Miller said. “The program helps improve reading skills and promotes creative thinking, imagination, and storytelling.”
