PUBLIC NOTICE
Starting the week of July 22, 2024, Baynor Construction will be replacing all the water meters in the Shallotte water service area to improve connectivity and reading capabilities with Brunswick County’s water meter reading system. Additionally, customers who currently have irrigation service with the County will have their irrigation meters replaced. You will not be charged for this service.
You do not need to be present when this work occurs, but we are sharing this information in case you see workers, digging, or flag markers on your property or in your neighborhood. There may also be a temporary disruption to your water service while this work takes place. Baynor Construction crews will be identified by marked vehicles and uniforms and will place door hangers to alert you when work has occurred on your property.
Baynor Construction will start with Shallotte’s irrigation customers, which may involve small excavations to update the retail water meter box or the addition of another single box for irrigation. Irrigation customers will receive additional communication from Brunswick County Public Utilities in the near future on how to connect their irrigation line to their newly installed irrigation meter or install a backflow preventer. This work is necessary to comply with State law and County ordinance and will ensure customers are charged using the County’s irrigation rate, which will financially benefit customers long term.
This project is expected to last 10 months. The contractor is expected to work a normal work week of five days, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding any County-observed holidays.
If you have any questions about this work or process, contact Brunswick County Public Utilities during our regular hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
