System Pressure Advisory- Shallotte
Posted 01.02.2024
The water customers of Brunswick County Public Utilities in Shallotte located at 107 to 136 Shallotte Ave, 4735 Milliken Ave, and the even numbered addresses from 4598 to 4718 Main Street, are experiencing periods of low water pressure and outages caused by a main line break.
Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back-siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system. Therefore, Brunswick County Public Utilities and the NC Division of Water Resources advise that consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation) or use bottled water. Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued. Twenty-seven (27) customers are affected, half commercial and half residential. Affected customers were notified via door hanger in the evening of 1/1/2024.
This advisory has been issued on 1/2/2024 by Adam Sellers of Brunswick County Public Utilities. Please contact 910-253-2657 for any additional questions or concerns.
