PUBLIC NOTICE
BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County government offices and Library branches will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, for Christmas and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day.
Here are a few reminders about some of your essential services during the holiday season.
Trash and Recycling
Brunswick County Landfill (172 Landfill Road NE, Bolivia, NC)
- Closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25. Reopens on regular schedule Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.
- Closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Reopens on regular schedule Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
Brunswick County Convenience Centers (Various Locations)
- Closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25. Reopen on regular schedule Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.
- Closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Reopen on regular schedule Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
Curbside Garbage and Recycling Collection
- Christmas Day: Collections unavailable Thursday, Dec. 25. GFL will service Thursday collections on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025.
- New Year's Day: No impacts. Collections will operate on their regular schedules on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.

Live Christmas Tree Recycling
Live Christmas trees are accepted at the Brunswick County Landfill in Bolivia at no charge to Brunswick County property owners and residents from Jan. 2 through Jan. 31, 2026. Live Christmas trees are accepted for $5 per tree at the Brunswick County Convenience Centers in January. After Jan. 31, normal tipping fees apply.
All ornaments, lights, and decorations must be removed prior to disposal. String lights and cords are accepted at the Brunswick County Landfill and Convenience Centers year-round at no charge to Brunswick County property owners and residents as part of the Electronics Recycling Program.
Note: Artificial trees and decorations are NOT recyclable and will need to be bagged and disposed of as household trash. Normal tipping fees will apply.
