Brunswick County is inviting community members to share their feedback on local response and recovery efforts related to Potential Tropical Cyclone #8 (PTC #8) and their experiences during and after the storm.
Anyone who experienced impacts from PTC #8 while living, working, visiting, or commuting in Brunswick County is encouraged to submit a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ptc8survey.
Community members are encouraged to submit their survey by Thursday, May 1, 2025.
Brunswick County’s PTC #8 After Action Committee is facilitating this survey. The Committee will use information from the survey to help develop recommendations and identify opportunities where the County and area partners can collaborate and improve on preparedness, response, and recovery strategies for future tropical storms and hurricanes.
The survey consists of 34 questions and is estimated to take around 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
PTC #8 occurred Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, resulting in historic rainfall in Brunswick County and the Cape Fear Region. Although PTC #8 never became a named tropical storm, the National Weather Service in Wilmington estimates that 12 to 20 inches of rain fell in only two days. Other observed weather impacts included strong winds, heavy rain, and flash flooding similar to other named tropical storms and hurricanes of the past.
