Overview
Note: The following shall be effective following a June 21 public hearing and upon issuance of a certificate of incorporation by the secretary of state.
Membership
Made up of 11 county-appointed members, including:
- Nine members serving 3-year terms. These nine are appointed as follows:
- One by the Governor
- Two by the General Assembly
- Three by the Secretary of the Department of Transportation
- One by the Board of Commissioners
- Must be a resident of the County, but not a resident of Bald Head Island
- One by the elected board of Southport
- Must be a resident of Southport
- One by the elected board of Bald Head Island
- Must be a resident of Bald Head Island
The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore of Bald Head Island, as ex officio voting members
Members may not serve more than two consecutive terms
