To focus attention on the problems of the disadvantaged and to develop and administer programs designed to overcome these problems in cooperation with other interested agencies in cooperating counties, utilizing all available resources from agencies, corporations, and foundations and public or private groups. The agency is committed to the concept of a community where each individual can contribute and achieve a measure of independence and self-respect through meaningful work.
All members serve 3-year terms.
Up to 3 members from Brunswick County.
Two members appointed by the Board of Commissioners.
One member representing the public (not appointed by the Board of Commissioners).
Additional members are appointed by Bladen, Columbus, Hoke, Pender, Robeson and Scotland counties.
Between 15 and 51 members
Members must be a resident of the County from which they are appointed.
Members cannot be an officer or employee of an organization contracting to perform a component of the work program from agency funding sources.
